Our Story & Mission
Our Mission Statement
We are a small social enterprise dedicated to creating premium, sustainable products that blend superior quality with environmental responsibility. We donate to initiatives focused on ocean pollution prevention and awareness. Our small business advocates for reducing plastic reliance in daily life, promoting alternatives to fast fashion, operating a zero-waste small business, and reducing consumption overall, helping to drive meaningful change in our community.
Our current commitment is to Seabin Foundation - an incredible Australian organisation dedicated to ocean pollution research, prevention and education.
All Ozeano sunglasses are inspired by (and named after) the beauty of the natural world. They are designed in Australia on the NSW South Coast and ethically handmade using a 100% biodegradable plant-based bio-acetate in our ISO9001, ISO14001 and SA8000-certified facility. All accessories are either 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton or FSC-certified Portuguese cork, and all our products are PETA-approved vegan. Our shipping is carbon-neutral, and courier packaging is 100% biodegradable.
Who works at Ozeano?
At this time, we are a team of two people working from a home office on the NSW South Coast . We can afford to keep the costs of our frames low as we don't have huge overheads.
We use our small business platform to encourage our community to consider bio-based alternatives wherever possible. This includes natural fibre clothing such as cotton, instead of clothing made out of synthetics such as polyester or nylon which have become so commonplace. Synthetic clothes shed microplastics into the ocean with every wash and scientists are just starting to realise the huge impacts plastics are having on our health.
