Design

The Wategos polarised sunglasses are an inspired tribute to Wategos Beach, the picturesque gem nestled just below the famous Cape Byron Lighthouse in Byron Bay.

These sustainable polarised sunglasses provide a classic yet modern look thanks to their timeless round design and versatile aesthetic. Featuring circular market-leading polarised lenses in a sleek frame, the Wategos oozes class and is a cool all-rounder.

These translucent polarised sunglasses are named in homage to Jellyfish, who have no brain, heart, bones or eyes but do have a stunning ability to be completely translucent in colour.

    Great sunglasses!

Look nice on but loose fit

I purchased these sunglasses just over a year ago (May 2022), and although they are sustainable, look really lovely on and have a great cork case, the frame has significantly loosened over time. Their claim to not loosen on their website was one major reason I bought, as all sunglasses I have ever owned loosen too much to be worn properly. I have a large head (58cm circumference) and take special care to not wear them on top of my head and so on, but the arms became so loose they were no longer sitting on my face correctly, constantly slipping down my nose, the arms wouldn’t stay closed when folded up (if I had them sitting on the collar of a shirt for example) and the arms became so wide they fell off the sides of my ears! I took them to an optometrist to retighten but they didn’t have the right size screwdriver to tighten the arm screws. I also tried adjusting as they recommend on their website, but the tightened fit never lasted longer than a wear or two. Disappointing for their claim of no loosening frame - I had such high hopes!!! If you don’t have a big head, you may have more success.

    They are ok

I am not happy with the delivery of the sunglasses. When they arrived they were so bent I thought about sending them back. Yes, they offer instructions on how to bend them so they have a nice fit, but I expect quality control to send glasses that are straight. Shipping took a very long time, that is not the company's fault, if I would have purchased local (US) I would not have had that issue. I'll keep these but would not purchase another pair.

    Adore them.

Had these for a fortnight and haven’t taken them off. Love the stylish design, ripper quality and local production.
2 notes that would have helped me when purchasing: 1) the Wategos look like they draw in at the bottom in the site’s photo. They don’t. They have a brilliant, circular shape to them; 2) They are quite small. When I first tried them on, having preciously owned Persols, they felt like kids’ sunnies. Adjusted the arms and the bridge with a hairdryer (as suggested), and they fit beautifully. EVERYONE comments on them.
    10/10.
